Credits and usage
Understand account credits, key limits, token usage, and where to check charges.
Fund your account
Open Wallet to check your balance and available top-up methods. Payment methods and purchase amounts follow the options displayed at checkout.
Every request must pass both account-credit checks and any spending limit on its API key. Creating a key does not fund your account, and unlimited key quota still draws from account credits.
Read token usage
Non-streaming Chat Completions responses normally include usage.prompt_tokens, usage.completion_tokens, and usage.total_tokens. Streaming usage depends on the route and request options.
The basic input/output estimate is (input tokens × input rate + output tokens × output rate) / 1,000,000 when rates are quoted per million tokens. Models with cache reads, cache writes, reasoning, or other usage categories require their applicable billing rules; the basic formula alone is not a complete bill.
Use current prices
The Pricing page and each model page show the current published pricing. Keep the unit and cache conditions with the price. This documentation intentionally links to those pages instead of maintaining a second table of rates.
A repeated prompt is not proof of a cache hit. Cache discounts depend on the usage reported for the request.
Audit requests and charges
Use Usage Logs to review the request, model, tokens, and charge. Filter by time or model and retain the request ID when diagnosing an issue.
A timed-out or disconnected request may still have been processed. Inspect the logs before resubmitting. A client-side error alone is not proof that no charge occurred.
Resolve insufficient credits
The current account-credit check returns HTTP 403 with error.code: "insufficient_user_quota". Read the accompanying message, since account or subscription funding paths can differ.
For an exhausted account balance, top up in Wallet. For an expired or exhausted key, update that key in API Keys. Repeating the same request without resolving the cause will not help.
